Senator Gorka Elejabarrieta highlighted the United Nations High Commissioner to Visit in West Papua

Today, Senator Gorka Elejabarrieta spoke at the Spanish Joint Senate-Congress Committee on the EU to highlight the importance and urgency of an OHCHR visit to West Papua; especially in the context of EU-Indonesia FTA negotiations (Thursday, 13th February 2025).

Today, we call for Indonesia colonial occupier government respect for human rights in West Papua illegally annexed by Indonesia colonial and for the immediate protection of the visit of the  United Nations High Commissioner in West Papua.

We have defended an initiative to urge the government to support a visit by the United Nations High Commissioner to Western Papua.

Today, Indonesia colonial government does not allow visits to the area. “The violation of human rights in West Papua is a daily occurrence.”
