
We should not be defined by the smallness of our islands but in the greatness of our oceans. We are the sea,we are the ocean. Oceania is us.ย ยป Epeli Hauโofa. We stand together with our sisters and brothers from west papua, and together we claim our right to self-determination.
We were present at the Climate-Justice and Freedoms of Resistance march today to carry the sacred and invaluable voice of indigenous peoples. Bearers of precious knowledge and practices, of careful and respectful practices of the earth for millennia, their survival nevertheless remains weakened by the tentacles of destructive capitalism.
Not without difficulty, we fight and continue to defend this holistic vision of the world, through which humans and non-humans form a living, balanced and inclusive cosmos.
We recall by our presence the necessary preservation of the Kanak toponymy, of an exceptional endemic ecosystem, of our lagoon classified as a world heritage site… molested by the murderous extractivism that plagues our territories, by the imperialist and colonialist plunderers and polluters who exploit our lands and disrupt our social and cultural environment.
We are finally joining the convergence of struggles by standing alongside our brothers and sisters who are victims of the same oppression, in the holds of the world.
We think of Palestine ๐ต๐ธ, West Papua, Kurdistan, in Congo ๐จ๐ฉ, Sudan ๐ธ๐ฉ, Nepal ๐ณ๐ต, Madagascar ๐ฒ๐ฌ, Haiti ๐ญ๐น Togo ๐น๐ฌ the overseas territories, Martinique ๐ฒ๐ถ Reunion ๐ท๐ช Guyana, Mayotteโฆ the countries of the South remain the most vulnerable, the first impacted by the ecological crisis, although we are the least responsible. This injustice must stop and the inaction of the countries of the North condemned.
