We are joining Pacific civil society organisations and communities as we march through Suva, Fiji, in solidarity with our brothers and sisters in West Papua and New Caledonia.
Colonialism in the Pacific has left scars on our land and hearts. Extractives and greed have driven mines in West Papua and Kanaky New Caledonia, stripping the earth of its minerals and the people of their freedom. But we rise, resilient and united!
Climate justice is inseparable from human rights and the right to self-govern. Our future will be shaped on our terms, free from the grasp of colonialism and extractivism for freedom of West Papua and Kanaky
This is what Fijian solidarity looks like. Hundreds of Fijians marched through Suva today calling for support from Pacific leaders for freedom, decolonisation & human rights in Kanaky New Caledonia and West Papua.
Amidst the busy streets of Suva, Fiji, we march shoulder to shoulder with Pacific civil society groups and local communities. Our hearts echo the struggles of our West Papua and Kanaky Fam. Colonialismβs wounds run deep, but our resilience unites us. Extractives may plunder minerals, yet our vision remains unwavering: climate justice, human rights, and self-governance. Together, we break free.
