Westpapuanews.Org – Jayapura: Naftali Tipagau (25), a.k.a Nataniel Tipagau, West Papua human rights activist, was arrested by undercover police on Monday, January 4, 2021, around 5 P.M. local time.
The young advocate uses his social media platforms to express his concerns and works as a secretary at West Papua National Committee organization (KNPB) at Intan Jaya District to support the West Papua independence.
On a press conference, a West Papua Police Spoke Person, Ahmad Musthofa Kamal, discredited and summoned Naftali with wrong accusations.
The Indonesian military and police have been abusing their power towards the West Papuans. Hundreds of thousands of West Papuan have been raped, tortured, and killed.
The Indonesian government prohibits foreign journalists from covering stories about West Papua. The imbalance news comes solely through military and police press conferences — and ampliflies by the Indonesian media.
Indonesian media and people who are not aligned with the Indonesian government’s propaganda will be intimidated and silenced. Naftali is one of many victims who are prevented to speak up the devastating truth.
Recently we lost the Zanambanis: A group of Indonesian military personnel tortured and killed the family in a inhumane and tragic way.
We also lost Priest Silvester Hisage, a twelve-years-old Warius Murib, and many more that we cannot mention one by one because the unlawful killings is unaccountable and happens every month.
