Shannon Sogavare Freedom for West Papua
By: Shannon Sogavare
I’ve seen it all. I’ve seen it all!
I’ve seen how my father got dragged on the ground.
I’ve seen how my uncles got totured by snakes.
I’ve seen how my brothers got shot on the way back home.
I’ve seen how my big sisters, mothers and aunties tried comforting their children assuring them that everything will be okay.
The saddest thing is that all this is happening in our own land.
They called us pigs too. We are not pigs!!! We are humans fighting to have freedom in our own land and have rights over it. Why can’t they respect that?
When will our voices be heard? When?
We want our voices to be heard, that’s all we ever prayed for.
How many more of my Fathers. mothers, uncles, aunties, brothers and sisters should die before we can have freedom in our own land and have rights over our own land?
One thing for sure is that we will never stop fighting for our freedom and our land!!!
